shimla Farm Stay - a place where you can relax

About Us

The area has been farmed for many centuries. Up until 1961, when the footbridge was built across the Satluj River , Thali was isolated from neighbouring Suni town, speaking its own dialect, the only way across the river, being by buffalo raft (Mushk).

Around the 12th Century, it is thought that either a volcano erupted or a mountain collapsed, creating the nearby forest, where there were plenty of wild animals including deer, tiger, wolves, rhinos, bear, panther and mountain cats, which are now rarely found. At that time people had their own way of living, dressing and working, which is still going on.

The farm-house is a century old, it has been built in the traditional way with mud and wood and has a slate roof.
